About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency Department team at SAGE San Francisco. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our veterinarians and nurses.

Responsibilities
  • Triage incoming patients and assist with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures
  • Partner with the patient care team to develop treatment plans, communicate with clients, and address nursing care concerns
  • Provide client education on home care instructions, medications, and general wellness updates
  • Monitor and provide nursing care to hospitalized patients
  • Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
  • Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as needed
  • Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing
Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • 1+ years of clinical experience as an RVT or 3 years of experience as a Senior Veterinary Assistant
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices, and estimates
  • Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP)
