Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced IT Operations Engineer to join our team at Lightship. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud services.

You will ensure high availability, scalability, and security of all IT systems, establish and maintain robust cybersecurity protocols to protect company assets and customer data, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

In addition, you will identify areas requiring specialized expertise and hire/manage consultants or vendors as needed, evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and oversee the quality of their deliverables.

You will also provide day-to-day IT support to the team, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, create IT hardware programs for managing and distributing assets, and develop and implement processes for efficient IT support and issue resolution.

Furthermore, you will implement and manage data storage solutions, ensuring secure and efficient data handling, develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans, and select, deploy, and manage collaboration tools that align with the company's needs.

As a key member of our team, you will assess current and future IT needs, making recommendations for scalable solutions as the company grows, and stay informed of emerging technologies and trends relevant to the company's industry.

Requirements:

  • 8 years experience in IT operations
  • Specific knowledge of several IT domains
  • Demonstrated experience in managing IT infrastructure in a startup or small business environment
  • Effective problem-solving skills with the capability to make strategic decisions about when to leverage external expertise
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Aptitude for working independently and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Up to 12 years experience in IT operations
  • Broad knowledge across multiple IT domains, including networking, cybersecurity, cloud services, and hardware/software integration

Compensation:

$100,000 - $125,000 a year, plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.
