Lead Operating Engineer

As a Lead Operating Engineer at Jones Lang LaSalle, you will be responsible for supervising and directing maintenance staff on shift, monitoring performance of assigned responsibilities, and ensuring that work performed is accomplished efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing and/or directing the performance of all maintenance departmental service requests
  • Checking malfunctioning equipment and ascertaining corrective action required to restore to satisfactory operating condition
  • Providing training and supervision aimed at expanding the capabilities of the operations staff
  • Supervising and implementing the preventative maintenance program
  • Directing the performance of contracted maintenance work as needed

You will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems, including fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, emergency backup systems, and hot water systems.

Additionally, you will be responsible for analyzing the operation of various systems, determining the cause of any problems/malfunctions, and taking corrective action as required.

Compliance with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials is also a key responsibility.

You will be responsible for the operational management and effective daily leadership and administration of the engineering team, with the objectives of safely, efficiently, and effectively operating machinery and systems in a cost-effective manner.

The Lead Operating Engineer must ensure the highest level of professionalism, while meeting the clients' needs, and commitment to achieving the goal of 100% uptime throughout the engineering team.

Protecting and improving the value of the clients' assets and ensuring that building engineering systems continue to perform their intended function is also a key responsibility.

Overseeing the activities of contractors working within the building, either as representatives of the building itself or tenants operating within the buildings, is also a key responsibility.

Keeping records of buildings rounds and readings, all engineering logs, and engineering data sheets is also a key responsibility.

Advance training and notification to all contractors so that they are informed and knowledgeable with respects to the building's critical functions and the work they are to perform is also a key responsibility.

Understanding and complying with emergency escalation procedures is also a key responsibility.

Ensuring that the CWA (Critical Facility Work Authorization) is a well-understood process among the building staff, engineers, tenants, and contractors who perform work on the building's critical infrastructure is also a key responsibility.

Strict adherence to Critical Awareness Process, Technical Bulletins, established engineering guidelines, processes, and procedures is also a key responsibility.

Performing additional job duties as requested is also a key responsibility.

Assisting the Chief Engineer in the implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and Individual Performance Plan's is also a key responsibility.

Minimum requirements include hands-on experience in various systems and equipment, as well as the ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems.
