Role Summary:

We are currently in search of a Cell Assembly Process Engineer to oversee and enhance the production processes of our pilot and research & development cell assembly lines. This role involves supervising, maintaining, and optimizing manufacturing equipment and methodologies.

Qualifications:

Minimum educational requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Master’s degree in Physical Sciences, with a focus on Energy Storage and/or Material Science preferred.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the commissioning, validation, and operation of cell assembly equipment for pouch and cylindrical cells.
  • Analyze mechanical cell design failure modes and lead investigations into root causes.
  • Create and review mechanical designs and drawings using computer-aided design tools.
  • Scale up cell prototypes from benchtop to pilot production while enhancing safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with electrochemistry teams to integrate advanced silicon anodes into new cell prototypes.
  • Innovate and develop new manufacturing techniques and equipment for pouch and cylindrical cells to meet customer needs.
  • Lead design reviews and contribute findings to improve product quality.
  • Prototype new battery cell formats and explore equipment procurement or modifications for new designs.
  • Provide daily support to the R&D cell assembly team, offering guidance and training to assembly and quality personnel.
  • Establish testing methodologies and standards to confirm manufacturing processes.
  • Utilize data analysis to implement continuous improvement strategies for existing assembly techniques and equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs of equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Manage project-related testing activities from planning to execution.

Location: This position may require some travel, up to 20%, depending on safety protocols.
