Practical Nursing Specialist

Position Overview:
The Practical Nursing Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering health care and wellness services to individuals with intellectual disabilities within community settings. This position is integral to the multidisciplinary treatment team, which includes psychiatrists, mental health professionals, licensed nurses, peer specialists, and direct care staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide comprehensive health care services, monitoring consumers for health status and dietary needs.
2. Investigate and address medical, health, or psychiatric issues as they arise, ensuring timely and effective responses in emergencies.
3. Collaborate with the treatment team to support individuals in achieving their recovery goals through medication education and therapeutic interventions.
Work Schedule:
Flexible shifts are available, including:
- Weekdays: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM (with rotating weekends)
- Weekdays: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
- Weekdays: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Weekends: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Physical Demands:
This role requires regular communication, standing, walking, and the ability to lift or move individuals weighing up to 150 pounds. Vision requirements include the ability to see at various distances and adjust focus as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current nursing license is mandatory.
- A minimum of two years of experience in mental health is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and personal transportation are required.
Skills Required:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent clinical nursing skills, including assessment and knowledge of behavioral health systems.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
