Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer for Cloud Platforms to develop, document, test, debug, and maintain data engineering solutions for Paze. The ideal candidate will have expertise and familiarity in software tools, frameworks, and best practices in secure software engineering.

Main Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain data engineering solutions for batch and stream processing on cloud platforms.
  • Develop advanced analytic solutions using Business Intelligence (BI) and Machine Learning (ML) tools.
  • Design and build infrastructure components required for Data and Analytics.
  • Ensure continuous integration and deployment of data solutions.
  • Develop and implement tests for ensuring the quality, performance, and scalability of our application.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex production issues for Support and Operations teams.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineering groups to conceptualize and build new features and create product descriptions.
  • Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years direct experience in Software Engineering or related experience.
  • Data Warehouse and Big Data experience: Two or more years' experience in the development of Data Warehouse, Big Data - structured and unstructured platforms, real-time & batch processing, and data standards.
  • Team collaboration and influence: Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Cloud infrastructure experience: Working experience with cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Mature engineering practices: Knowledge of mature engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, secure coding, etc.).
  • Software Development Lifecycle: Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) best practices, software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Lean, etc.) and DevOps practices.
  • Communication skills: Excellent written and spoken communication.
  • Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • Background and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional education and/or work experience preferred.
  • Large Scale Cloud Data Lake/Warehouse transformation.
  • AWS Cloud experience in Streaming, Batch Data Management.
  • Redshift or other large warehouse Management experience.
  • Advanced SQL and Analytics.
  • BI tools like Tableau, Quicksight.
  • Data Governance and Quality Controls.
  • Computer language experience (Python, PySpark, R).
  • Monitoring and Alerting systems experience (AppDynamics, Splunk etc.).
  • AWS certification in Solution Architecture/Analytics.
  • FinTech experience highly beneficial.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching may be required. Lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally and negligible amount of force frequently. Visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

Employee must be able to perform essential functions and physical requirements of position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Base pay scale for this position in Phoenix, AZ/Chicago, IL in USD per year is $120,000 - $140,000. In New York, NY/San Francisco, CA in USD per year is $140,000 - $160,000.

This compensation package also includes a discretionary bonus and benefits, such as healthcare coverage, retirement plan, paid time off, parental leave, and Maven Family Planning support.
