POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Heavy Machinery Technician
- is responsible for conducting repairs and maintenance on large-scale machinery, compact machinery, light service vehicles, and light-duty trucks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains comprehensive expertise to identify and rectify mechanical issues on heavy machinery. Executes repair or preventative maintenance on both diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles.
Typical tasks include servicing engines, transmissions, chassis, driveline components, body parts, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, and suspension systems, as well as wheels, tires, and undercarriages.
Interprets equipment condition reports and/or repair orders, collaborates with supervisors and/or operators for clarification of issues, and discusses preventive measures with operators to reduce future maintenance needs.
Adheres to all safety regulations and protocols. Conducts overhauls on both gasoline and diesel engines. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a Mechanical Trade School program or equivalent degree. Certification in electrical diagnostics. Relevant ASE certifications. Familiarity with Tier 4 emission systems. Skills and/or experience in welding and/or fabrication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy machinery, demonstrating the capability to handle progressively more complex maintenance tasks.
Valid driver's license.ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Advanced knowledge in air brake systems, as evidenced by ASE Certification and at least 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy machinery.
Advanced training in hydraulic systems, as evidenced by ASE Certification and a minimum of 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy machinery.
Advanced electrical training, as evidenced by ASE Certification and a minimum of 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy machinery.
Advanced training in suspension, steering, and wheel-end components, as evidenced by ASE Certification and at least 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy machinery.
Advanced knowledge of drivetrain systems, as evidenced by ASE Certification and at least 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy machinery.
