Cancer Research Nurse Job Description

Cleveland Clinic's Taussig Cancer Center is seeking a skilled Research Nurse to join our team. As a Research Nurse, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality patient care and access to the latest advances in cancer treatment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and experience in clinical research. You will be responsible for coordinating the implementation and conduct of research projects, ensuring adherence to research protocol requirements. Additionally, you will complete and communicate regulatory documents, develop data, monitor plans, report Serious Adverse Events, and complete FDA and sponsor forms.

You will serve as a liaison between investigators, research personnel, outside study personnel, and central research administration offices to assist in protocol interpretation, enrollment, and safety questions. You will also utilize the nursing process as a basis for patient care, assessing research subjects, completing nursing assessments, documenting findings in research subject records, and notifying the physician of abnormal findings.

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree from an accredited school of professional nursing, current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA), and two years of clinical experience. A cancer-specific certification or ongoing qualifying education within the time of the facilities' accreditation cycle is also required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate research projects and ensure adherence to research protocol requirements

Requirements:

Working Conditions:

  • Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
