Job Title: Custodian

Overview:

Catholic Health Services of Long Island is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. As a Custodian, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our residents, patients, and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the facility is kept in a clean, sanitary, and odorless condition at all times.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
  • Assist with lifting and moving furniture, such as tables and chairs, as needed.
  • Receive and understand verbal and written assignments to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Work effectively in all areas of the facility, including patient rooms, common areas, and administrative spaces.
  • Dispose of trash, diapers, and soiled linen in the proper receptacles.
  • Prepare infectious waste for pickup by outside companies.
  • Deliver packages and articles as required.
  • Wash walls and windows inside and out.
  • Exercise good judgment when completing tasks that involve residents, patients, or employees.
  • Ensure residents' and patients' right to privacy is respected.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to read and write comprehensive English.
  • Elementary school level acceptable, high school equivalency preferred.
