Controller Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team and oversee our financial operations. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing our financial processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and financial forecasting, monitoring and analyzing budget performance, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Accounting Operations: Supervise and manage the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of financial transactions and reconciliations.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting, conducting regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and liquidity to support operational needs and strategic initiatives, managing banking relationships and overseeing cash management activities.
  • Financial Systems and Process Improvement: Evaluate and enhance financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy, leading or participating in projects related to system upgrades, integrations, and process improvements.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment, conducting performance reviews and providing ongoing training and support.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred. Minimum of 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Proven experience with month end close reporting on SAGE, creating financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting in a mid-sized organization. Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial regulations. Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
