Department Chair, Professional Nursing Practice-Tenure Track

We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Department Chair of Professional Nursing Practice at the University of South Carolina College of Nursing. This is a tenure-track position that requires a dynamic individual committed to fostering excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service within a collaborative and forward-thinking academic environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide Strategic Leadership: Guide the department with a future-oriented approach, shaping the future of prelicensure nursing education and supporting faculty excellence.
- Support Faculty Excellence: Serve as a role model, promote faculty development and mentoring, monitor performance, and manage appointments and promotions.
- Support Governance: Engage in shared governance to shape the department's mission and outcomes.
- Oversee Programs: Ensure the effectiveness of prelicensure academic programs, including curricular reviews and assessments.
- Collaborate Across Departments: Work with other department chairs on teaching assignments and workloads.
- Recruit & Retain Talent: Manage faculty recruitment, retention, and evaluation.
- Budget Oversight: Manage the departmental faculty travel budget.
- Implement Strategy: Collaborate on the College's mission, vision, and strategic plans.
Faculty appointments and salary are competitive and based on the candidate's level of experience in clinical practice, teaching, and scholarship. The ideal candidate will hold an earned doctorate in nursing (PhD or DNP), be eligible for licensure in South Carolina, and have experience in progressive academic leadership roles.
