Key Responsibilities- Strategic Planning: Participate with the Market Chief Executive Officer, CNOs within the market, management, and medical staff in developing the hospital and market's mission, strategic plans, operational plans, and policies.
- Nursing Service Management: Manage the clinical and administrative aspects of Nursing Service, including planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting, directing, and controlling.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Coordinate with ancillary services and other departments to achieve facility goals, collaborate with finance and other departments, and carry leadership responsibilities for other departments as determined by the Chief Executive Officer.
- Nurse Employee Support: Provide support and mentorship to CNOs within the market and lead nurse employees to enroll their support, create ownership of goals, and actively participate in decisions that impact the hospital.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations.
- Physician Partnerships: Partner with physicians who use or will use the hospital.
- Clinical Employee Recruitment and Retention: Create an environment that encourages recruiting and retention of clinical employees.
- Cost Management: Manage costs by continually seeking data to identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs.
- Nursing Practice Standards: Establish standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing services.
- Patient Care Programs: Develop organizational patient care programs, policies, and procedures that describe how nursing care is assessed, delivered, and evaluated.
- Performance Improvement: Analyze areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
- Representation: Represent the nursing services at all meetings, including medical staff and hospital board of directors meetings, and participate with leaders in designing and providing patient care services.
- Education: Must possess both a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and a Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MSN, etc.).
- Experience: Must be a registered nurse (RN) with current licensure and have 7+ years of demonstrated successful leadership in an acute-care hospital environment (for-profit experience preferred).
- Skills: Must be proficient in written and verbal communication skills and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, physicians, patients, and patient's families.
