Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Firefighter/Paramedic to join our team at Sandoval County, NM. As a member of our firefighting team, you will perform highly skilled work in fire suppression, emergency medical services, life support, and rescue operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency alarms and calls for service, and perform fire suppression, rescue, life support, and emergency medical duties as required.
  • Act as lead medical technician for emergency care, providing advanced life support services, including invasive and non-invasive medical procedures, and complex treatment modalities.
  • Operate emergency, fire, rescue, medical, and lifesaving tools and equipment, functioning in an immediate danger to life and health (IDLH) environment.
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain a variety of equipment, tools, and apparatus, ensuring that all emergency response equipment is in a proper state of readiness and available for immediate use.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED Certificate from an accredited institution.
  • Associate's Degree in Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, or related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in the firefighting or EMS field(s) is preferred.
  • Eligible candidates with current full-time employment and two years of experience as a structural firefighter in an all-hazards agency responsible for residential and commercial fire responses as well as EMS, may be considered LATERAL, and given preference, and may have reduced New Hire Academy training requirements.
  • Paramedic License from New Mexico Emergency Medical Systems (NMEMS) is required.
  • Current Emergency Cardiac Care certifications for adult and pediatric patients are required.
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license is required.
