Job Title: Machinist

At StandardAero, we're seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team. As a Machinist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the precision and quality of our aviation products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and layouts to determine machining operations.
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances, and measure and lay out work pieces.
  • Verify product dimensions for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and modify products to achieve expected performance.
  • Adjust and set up machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Cross-train in other complementary skills and seek endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
Requirements:
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, tool design, fabrication methods, and processes, metallurgy, and heat-treating.
  • Working knowledge of welding, hydraulics, electricity, and pneumatics.
  • Proficient in the operation of Manual VTL, Lathes, Grinders, and Mills.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, rework process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals, and MSDS labels.
  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average workday.
  • Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods.
Preferred Characteristics:
  • Prior experience in machine set-ups, tool changes is preferred.
  • Prior or current programming experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of G&M codes preferred.
  • Prior or current CNC experience would be a plus.
