Overview:
As a Lead Medical Coding Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the Medical Coding Technician team. This position is designed to support the department supervisor by providing training, education, and expert guidance to team members. You will monitor workflows and assist partners in managing work volumes effectively. Your expertise will ensure adherence to current laws, regulations, and compliance standards. Additional responsibilities may include occasional weekend work and reasonable overtime as required.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all coding operations to ensure consistency and clarity in coding processes and guidelines.

2. Collaborate with the supervisor in training, scheduling, evaluating, and supervising team members.

3. Analyze department quality metrics and prepare actionable recommendations for enhancements through coordinated training initiatives.

4. Ensure the effective implementation of the revenue cycle compliance strategy.

5. Investigate and resolve intricate coding challenges across all revenue cycle divisions.

6. Serve as a subject matter expert in coding and billing practices.

7. Maintain, revise, and clarify all training and reference materials.

8. Conduct clinical and partner audits, providing valuable feedback and educational support.

9. Engage in special projects as assigned.

10. Perform coding audits for partners and providers to guarantee accuracy and compliance, offering education and training as necessary.

11. Sustain a comprehensive understanding of Epic billing, including ambulatory and hospital modules.

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent

- Minimum of four years of experience in coding professional services across various specialties

- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and strong leadership capabilities

Certification/Licensure:
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or an equivalent coding certification is mandatory.

Special Physical Demands:
