Support Trainer for Individuals with Disabilities

Job Summary:

Region V Services is seeking a Support Trainer to provide high-quality training and support services to individuals with disabilities in their homes and community locations.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, be able to contribute positively to the work team, and possess strong communication skills.

This role requires flexibility, as the Support Trainer may be required to work varying shifts, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

A competitive compensation package is being offered, including an estimated $15.15-16.24 per hour, depending on experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement individualized training programs tailored to meet each person's unique needs and goals.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other team members to ensure that training and supports are effective and meaningful.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a positive role model and trainer, promoting socially enhancing behavior, personal hygiene, language, and personal grooming skills.
  • Work cooperatively with consultants, supervisors, and other agency staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Instruct and enforce safety precautions in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide transportation and support as needed to enhance community access and social participation.
  • Assist individuals in managing their personal finances, adhering to Region V Services procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of Region V Services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of training methods and techniques, particularly those applicable to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals with special needs, including personal care and hygiene.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing client needs and priorities.
  • Basic math skills and ability to manage finances, if necessary.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation, or other adequate means of getting around.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Prior experience in human services, preferably working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
