Clinical Laboratory Specialist

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using automated and manual instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of laboratory tests, including blood and urine analysis, to ensure accurate and timely results.
- Monitor specimens to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Review data prior to release to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Report all panic, abnormal, etc. values to ensure prompt attention and action.
- Maintain quality control data on tests performed, resolve QC failures, and document actions as stipulated by laboratory procedures.
- Prepare reagents and take inventory, and advise supervisor as required.
- Maintain all records of work performed and keep maintenance logs of equipment.
- Assist with answering the telephone and perform order entry in the LIS system, as necessary.
- May have individual responsibility for the work of a laboratory unit and may provide leadership for technicians.
- Assist with the training of new employees.
- Maintain a clean work area in accordance with Infection Control guidelines.
- Position requires at least a Bachelor's degree in a physical science, medical technology preferred.
- New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit are required. Applicants must obtain the provisional permit within the probationary period of three months for continued employment.
- Laboratory and hospital information system computers, variety of automated equipment, and other laboratory equipment are required.
