JOB OVERVIEW:
The Metalworking Group is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Inspector will conduct mechanical evaluations and assessments, employing established methodologies, techniques, and standardized inspection tools to ensure that units and sub-assemblies meet specified tolerances, finish standards, and operational quality. This role requires skills and knowledge that can be developed through hands-on training and experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Interpret and comprehend technical drawings and client specifications.
  • Adhere to established protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct inspections and possess knowledge of welding standards.
  • Determine inspection methodologies to guarantee thorough verification of specifications and dimensions. Acquire necessary fixtures, gauges, and indicators to assess machine components for compliance within defined tolerances. Complete assurance checklists throughout the inspection process.
  • Verify part identification and supplier details (whether internal or external). Execute inspection protocols, including measuring dimensions of related surfaces, holes, and evaluating finish quality, hardness, and identifying cracks or other imperfections.
  • Inspect critical components, tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauging devices; calibrate and set adjustable inspection instruments to ensure precise readings.
  • Apply similar inspection procedures to machine parts sourced from external suppliers. Engage with supplier representatives regarding any questionable items.
  • Reject non-compliant items and instruct suppliers to retrieve these from the designated quarantine area.
  • Assess salvage options for items that fall outside specification limits and recommend rework where feasible. Otherwise, dispose of rejected items and inform the supervisor of any incorrect machining or fabrication trends.
  • Assist in resolving daily inspection challenges related to inspection techniques and equipment.
  • Complete all required documentation for clients, including but not limited to, annotated drawings, data sheets, PPAP packages, or client-specific forms.
  • Communicate with clients as necessary.
  • Experience with CMM operation and programming is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be capable of lifting up to 30 pounds occasionally, standing for the duration of the shift, and performing bending, squatting, twisting, and turning movements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Experience:
    1. Consistent work history.
    2. Precision and dexterity required for operating gauges and testing apparatus.
    3. Experience with measuring instruments.
    4. Ability to interpret technical drawings.
