Job Summary

The Senior Commercial Manager is a key member of our team, responsible for ensuring the effective administration of contractual matters. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial management principles, contract administration, and risk management. Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Management: Develop and implement contract management strategies to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring Compliance: Monitor contractual compliance and identify potential risks to ensure timely mitigation.
  • Issuing Subcontracts: Prepare and issue subcontracts to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Change Management: Negotiate and process contract change orders to minimize disruptions.
  • Implementation of Change Management Procedures: Develop and implement change management procedures to drive process improvements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Development of Project-Specific Processes: Develop project-specific processes to ensure effective commercial management.
  • Assistance in Claims Resolution: Assist in resolving claims and disputes to ensure timely resolution.
  • Contract Close-Out: Ensure timely contract close-out to minimize potential risks.
Risk Management
  • Developing and Monitoring Risk Register: Develop and monitor risk registers to identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Identify Potential Risks: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure timely resolution.
  • Develop Mitigation Plans: Develop mitigation plans with the project team to minimize potential risks.

Document Control

Dispute Resolution

Project Accounting
  • Review and Comment on Cost Model: Review and comment on cost models to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Support Internal and External Invoicing: Support internal and external invoicing to ensure timely payment.
  • Update Chargeable Cost Exhibit: Update chargeable cost exhibits to ensure accurate tracking.
  • Identify Gaps Between Actual Cost and Projections: Identify gaps between actual cost and projections to ensure timely reconciliation.
Scheduling
  • Collaborate with Project Controls Manager: Collaborate with the project controls manager on schedule issues and impacts.
  • Attend Weekly Schedule Meetings: Attend weekly schedule meetings to ensure timely resolution.
  • Review Schedule Adjustments: Review schedule adjustments for change orders to ensure timely resolution.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Architecture/Engineering, Design-Build, P3, project management, construction, project controls, and/or staff leadership or equivalent.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, business, law, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry contracting practices in the country(ies) the Senior Commercial Manager works in, applicable government and commercial regulations and practices, policies, procedures, and work practices.
  • Working knowledge of project controls, project management, and project estimating software tools such as: Primavera 6 (P6), e-Builder, Quick Base, or Primavera Unifier.
  • Experience in development of fee estimates, drafting contracts, administration and negotiation of change orders, effective correspondence, planning, and scheduling.
  • Experience in claims which may include claims defense, claim production, claim negotiation/resolution, and claim prevention.
  • Ability to work well in a high-performing team structure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of negotiation of contracts for architecture/engineering projects.
  • A positive professional reputation as one who can deliver quality, cost-effective projects.
  • Self-starter; good communication and people skills.
  • Must be committed to quality and improvement and promoting HDR's values.
  • Ability to teach, lead, and mentor others.
