The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and operational excellence of Deaconess Gibson Hospital (DGH). This position requires a visionary leader who can foster a culture of innovation, quality, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement effective hospital operations, ensuring seamless integration with established policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the DGH board of directors and medical staff to drive strategic planning and decision-making.
- Design and execute an ancillary services organization plan, allocating resources to support its execution.
- Provide leadership and coordination during staff meetings and special committees.
- Delegate authority and responsibility across various hospital services, promoting a culture of accountability and teamwork.
- Implement information and support systems to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Recruit and maintain a diverse and competent staff, promoting professional growth and development.
- Manage internal controls to protect and conserve hospital resources, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Review and evaluate policies, procedures, and service programs, identifying areas for improvement and innovation.
- Direct the implementation of new programs and services to achieve hospital objectives, aligning with the organization's mission and vision.
- Coordinate and integrate all health system programs to meet community needs, fostering partnerships and collaborations.
- Leadership: Communicate vision and values effectively, provide guidance in goal-setting and problem-solving, and manage change adeptly.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance: Create an environment that supports quality improvement and compliance with regulations.
- Building Customer Loyalty: Identify and meet the needs of stakeholders, enhancing relationships and satisfaction.
- Workforce Engagement: Develop staff potential, foster a positive work environment, and manage performance effectively.
- Fiscal Management: Manage department resources efficiently, develop budgets aligned with strategic goals, and enhance financial outcomes.
- Master's Degree (MHA, MBA, MSN) or related field required. Minimum five (5) years' experience in healthcare administration or as a director in a medium to large health system with preference in the Critical Access Hospital setting.
- Experience must include extensive operations responsibility, strategic planning, and facilities management, with demonstrated ability to relate well to all external and internal customers. In addition, experience in physician relations, creating joint ventures, negotiating, and team-building are required.
