We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Shearer's Foods. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a comprehensive safety and wellness process, creating a safety culture, and ensuring compliance with all legal and company safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a Caring Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety and well-being, where associates' safety and health are always the top priority.
- Ensure a Safe Working Environment: Lead processes to ensure a safe working environment, every shift, every day.
- Meet or Exceed Safety Goals: Lead the facility to meet or exceed established corporate safety goals, aligned with business needs.
- Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety requirements, handle audits and OSHA visits, and stay current on changing requirements.
- Lead Programs and Training: Develop and implement programs, training, and messaging to recognize, reward, and promote safe behaviors throughout the facility.
- Drive Accountability: Drive strong accountability with leaders to be role models of safe behaviors.
- Correct Unsafe Acts and Conditions: Lead programs to correct unsafe acts and conditions in the workplace.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work collaboratively with the Site Director, HR, and Worker's Compensation/Leave Experts on all decisions related to injuries, leaves, reasonable accommodations/return to work, discipline, and leave case management.
- Stay Informed and Up-to-Date: Stay apprised of trends and best practices, both across the network and within the marketplace and the Safety Community.
- Ensure Data Accuracy and Compliance: Ensure relevant data, compliance records, and training are complete, accurate, and in compliance.
- Build High-Performing Teams: Build high-performing teams, develop, and retain top talent.
- Financial Controls and Budgeting: Provide leadership and guidance to maintain a safety budget with an emphasis on practical business and financial responsibility.
- Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in safety, operations, engineering, business, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in EHS, influencing and training large manufacturing teams and management to promote and lead by example a safe work environment and to always remain in compliance with all legal and company safety regulations.
- Skills and Qualifications: Ability to lead others, knowledge of OSHA, Logout Tagout, Machine Guarding, and other State/Federal requirements, ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, experience in working with regulatory agencies, priority setting, comfort around leadership, managing peer relationships, influencing others, strategic agility, action-oriented, approachability, and drive for results.
