We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Desert Botanical Garden. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the Garden's infrastructure, buildings, and systems are in top operational condition and appearance.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the Garden's buildings, roads, parking lots, utilities, fences, gates, and fleet vehicles.
- System Maintenance: Service the Garden's electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and refrigeration systems, following the schedule of planned preventative maintenance activities prepared by the Facilities Manager.
- Safety and Compliance: Support the DBG Safety Coordinator to ensure safe conditions exist in the Garden at all times, monitor the condition of public paths, patios, buildings, and equipment, and review work practices to ensure maximum safety for all.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate all equipment, hand and power tools, and execute and successfully complete maintenance-related work orders.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collectively with outside contractors, vendors, service partners, and internal staff to ensure seamless maintenance operations.
- Education and Experience: Completion of an Associate's Applied Science (AAS) program in Building or Construction Trades, or a minimum of two years' building trades experience at the Journey level, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Driver's License: Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license.
- OSHA Certification: Ability to maintain OSHA Safety certifications and/or training levels as required.
- Communication and Time Management: Good communication skills and ability to manage time to complete tasks properly and within the time allotted.
- Guest Service Skills: Must possess exemplary Guest Service Skills.
- Work Schedule: Ability to work off-hours with occasional evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
While some work will take place in a regular office environment, a great deal of outdoor work is expected, in sometimes extreme weather conditions. Must be able to walk, sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, see, hear, speak, read, and type. Manual dexterity and the ability to lift up to 90 pounds required.
