Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Planning Specialist to join our team at the City of Billings. As a key member of our Planning Division, you will play a critical role in supporting the administration of the Transportation Planning Process, managing projects related to federal planning funds, and working closely with local, state, and federal agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the drafting of transportation project scopes of work, contracts, and reimbursement documentation for federal planning funds.
  • Manage transportation planning projects, including data analysis, traffic modeling, and GIS mapping.
  • Provide staff support to the Planning Board, City Council, and other governing bodies.
  • Develop and implement annual schedules for review and completion of critical MPO programs.
  • Coordinate with local and state organizations on traffic model data and systems.
  • Manage Transportation Alternative Program application submittal, review, and approval processes.
Requirements
  • Four-year degree with major coursework in urban or regional planning, with significant coursework in transportation planning.
  • One to three years of related work experience in government or private sector planning.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
Working Conditions

This position requires moderate physical effort, moving between 5 and 25 pounds, with occasional high attention to detail and deadlines. The work environment is moderate, with occasional exposure to disagreeable elements.
