The Library Support Specialist will represent Middle Georgia Regional Library with professionalism through their conduct, appearance, and interactions with both the public and colleagues.
The Specialist will offer assistance and information regarding library services, fees, procedures, and other essential aspects necessary for the department's daily operations.
Work hours may include evenings and weekends.Preferred Qualifications:
Up-to-date knowledge of library practices
Outstanding customer service abilities and proactive approach
Proficiency in computer and internet usage
Technical skills to operate standard office equipment and library systems
Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
Strong work ethic with the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Key Responsibilities:
Additional responsibilities may include:
Issuing library identification cards, locating and checking out materials for patrons, inspecting returned items for damage, and managing overdue fines.
Processing and maintaining reserved materials and interlibrary loans.
Sorting returned items according to classification and need for repair, and returning them to their designated locations.
Repairing materials, preparing items for binding, and maintaining related records.
Reviewing orders for new materials against the existing collection and facilitating the ordering process.
Sorting and shelving new acquisitions.
Entering cataloging information into the library's automated system or maintaining card catalogs.
Responding to general inquiries and directing patrons needing professional assistance to the appropriate librarian.
Assisting patrons with electronic devices.
Updating computer records as necessary.
Handling phone inquiries and processing incoming mail.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Applicants who are not selected will not receive notification.
Position Details:
Part-time, 16 hours per week, $12/hr.
