Position Summary:
The Senior Paralegal plays a crucial role in case strategy, development, and oversight. Responsibilities include conducting legal research, interviewing clients, gathering facts, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and compiling technical information to provide informed recommendations to the supervising attorney. The Senior Paralegal may also represent clients before administrative agencies when permitted by law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately meets billable hour requirements;
- Records all billable time by the start of the week;
- Adheres to established Case Review Protocols;
- Documents communications with clients and opposing parties, confirming details via email;
- Ensures timely attorney responses to client inquiries;
- Assists attorneys in preparing for court proceedings, including:
- Timely serving documents and filing proofs of service;
- Preparing trial binders, witness lists, and exhibit lists.
- Maintains regular communication with clients to provide updates and gather necessary information;
- Helps manage attorney schedules, deadlines, and tasks;
- Assists billing by coordinating client trust account replenishments;
- Completes all required Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits;
- Maintains confidentiality and trust balances for clients;
- Reports any potential BAR complaints or malpractice claims to management immediately.
Qualifications:
- Ability to travel as needed;
- Experience in high-pressure environments while maintaining professionalism;
- Proficient in legal drafting and research;
- Strong organizational and time-management skills;
- Minimum of seven years of experience in family law, with five years in high net-worth cases preferred;
- Certification from an accredited paralegal program is preferred;
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and familiar with case management software.
