Nursing Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Care Specialist to join our team at Altoona Nursing & Rehabilitation. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our residents while collaborating with our medical team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Responsibilities- Assist in supervising the assignment and scheduling of nursing staff to meet resident needs
- Provide nursing care on shift as needed
- Assist and cooperate with medical staff
- Assist in solving nursing service problems
- Assist in implementing company forms/systems and policies and procedures
- Assist in supervising the maintenance of records of nursing, medical and related services
- Assist in validating the accuracy of MDS and Care Plans
- Support the facility quality improvement program
- Conduct in-service programs and orientation programs
- Review physician orders daily and monthly, and participate in triple check process
- As requested, assist with DON responsibilities
- Supervise and evaluate implementation of resident's rights
- Participate and attend periodic in-services and staff meetings
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Two years previous nursing experience required, preferably working with a geriatric long-term care population
- Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Iowa
