Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Care Specialist to join our team at Altoona Nursing & Rehabilitation. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our residents while collaborating with our medical team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in supervising the assignment and scheduling of nursing staff to meet resident needs
  • Provide nursing care on shift as needed
  • Assist and cooperate with medical staff
  • Assist in solving nursing service problems
  • Assist in implementing company forms/systems and policies and procedures
  • Assist in supervising the maintenance of records of nursing, medical and related services
  • Assist in validating the accuracy of MDS and Care Plans
  • Support the facility quality improvement program
  • Conduct in-service programs and orientation programs
  • Review physician orders daily and monthly, and participate in triple check process
  • As requested, assist with DON responsibilities
  • Supervise and evaluate implementation of resident's rights
  • Participate and attend periodic in-services and staff meetings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Two years previous nursing experience required, preferably working with a geriatric long-term care population
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Iowa
