Urology Surgical Fellowship Program

Our 12-month fellowship program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is designed to provide you with a comprehensive education and training in the latest urologic procedures and techniques.

Training Details

Our one-year training program is divided into two sections:

  • The first section (six months) is spent learning about the main subspecialty areas of urology, including BPH/LUTS, Kidney Stone Disease and Mineral Metabolism, Urologic Oncology, FPMRS, Neurourology, and Reconstructive Urology, Prosthetics, and Trauma.
  • The second section allows growing autonomy with first assisting during robotic cases at Clements University Hospital, and seeing and managing patients at our state-of-the-art ambulatory care clinic and at Clements University Hospital.
Financial Information

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including a stipend of $95,000 annually, medical, dental, and vision coverage, and generous holiday, vacation, and sick leave benefits.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the fellowship program, applicants must have a certificate of graduation from an ARC-PA accredited PA program, certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), and either be eligible for or have a Texas Medical License. Nurse Practitioners must have documentation of completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program, licensure as NP and RN by Texas State Board of Nursing, authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing, and documentation of Acute Care certification.

Job Duties

As a fellow in our Urology Surgical Fellowship Program, you will assist physicians in diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients, obtain complete medical historical data from patients, and execute diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as assigned. You will also provide follow-up and health management and maintenance care to patients, instruct and counsel patients as appropriate, and maintain complete and accurate records of contacts with patients.
