Job Overview

The role of the Food Safety Quality Manager is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality within our organization. This position encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at maintaining compliance with industry regulations and enhancing product integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • SQF System Oversight: Serve as the SQF Practitioner, responsible for the maintenance and management of the SQF System.
  • Food Safety Authority: Hold the authority to initiate corrective actions to uphold food safety standards.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure strict adherence to food safety protocols throughout all stages of production.
  • Audit Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for external audits concerning food safety and quality assurance.
  • Pest Control Management: Oversee the Pest Control Program, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Employee Training: Educate and train staff on food safety and quality assurance practices.
  • Customer Complaint Management: Address and document customer complaints, implementing necessary corrective measures.
  • Product Monitoring: Supervise inbound and outbound products to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Documentation Management: Manage internal food safety documentation, including lot code tracking and allergen control.
  • Recall Management: Monitor FDA recalls and ensure vendor compliance; manage internal recall procedures.
  • Verification Processes: Oversee verification and validation processes for all food safety and quality systems.
  • Sanitation Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Document Requests: Respond to and fulfill external document-action requests.
  • Budget Management: Manage the Quality Department budget and supervise the Product Development Specialist.
  • Inventory Control: Participate in inventory control activities as required.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a quality control role within the food manufacturing sector.
  • Demonstrated management experience, including team leadership and budget oversight.
  • Extensive familiarity with food safety third-party audits such as SQF, BRC, FDA, and AIBI.
  • Possession of SQF Certification.
  • HACCP Certification is required.
  • PCQI Certification is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of FDA regulations and food safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.
  • Experience with inventory control processes in a food manufacturing context.
  • Capability to lead training and development initiatives related to food safety and quality.
  • Proficiency in managing and interpreting quality control data and metrics.
  • Experience in product development and innovation within the food industry.
