Job Responsibilities- Curriculum Development and Assessment: Develop and implement effective curriculum and instruction plans that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Instruction and Support: Meet and instruct assigned students in designated locations and times, providing instruction support to struggling students in classroom and pull-out settings.
- Interventions and Support: Plan and provide daily focused, research-based interventions to students using approved instructional materials, and provide support to students with disabilities in a general education setting.
- Classroom Environment and Management: Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students, and establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Student Progress and Assessment: Assess and document the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, and provide progress reports as required.
- Professional Development and Collaboration: Strive to maintain and improve professional competence, especially as it relates to the specific assignment and student grade and subject area appropriateness, and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others.
- Equity and Diversity: Foster a learning environment that is safe and welcoming, providing equal educational opportunities to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, homelessness, religion, national origin, or disability.
- Education and Licensure: A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, and valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education teacher licensure in grade and subject area appropriate for the assignment.
- Language and Cultural Competence: Ability to work with diverse populations, and knowledge of MA Curriculum frameworks, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual Spanish, dual certification in ESL and/or Moderate Disabilities.
The length of the school day is 6.5 hours, but subject to longer hours for schools with extended day. The number of school days are 185 days. See CPS website for salary information.
