Job Title: COE Technical Manager

American Packaging Corporation is seeking a highly skilled COE Technical Manager to lead our Center of Excellence (COE) Technical Team. This role will be responsible for driving new product development, supporting manufacturing and quality, and collaborating with external technical resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the COE Technical Team, including Technical Specialists, Application Engineers, and Product Development Engineers.
  • Respond to COE-specific needs regarding new business opportunities, manufacturing, and quality support.
  • Conduct material and process research to identify technologies that match the COE's capabilities or initiatives.
  • Collaborate with external technical resources on new business opportunities, specification development, and material development initiatives.
  • Ensure the COE has all necessary information, specifications, and knowledge to meet customer expectations.
  • Develop and maintain updated files on finished roll stock, pouch, die-lines, third-party, perforation, and other required specifications.
  • Prepare and manage in-plant technical trials, including conducting pre-trial planning meetings, directing on-line manufacture of trial materials, and documenting results.
  • Research and qualify new alternative materials.
  • Participate in COE leadership team meetings and interact with customers, management, marketing, sales, and suppliers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, etc.) from a four-year college or university.
  • Experience with printing and laminations for flexible packaging using materials such as papers, films, foils, and sealants.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
