Tax and Audit Manager

Novogradac & Company LLP is seeking a Manager to join our team. The Manager will oversee a variety of tax, audit, and other assignments, working with minimal supervision and focusing on supervising and mentoring staff and senior accountants. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting and tax rules, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and foster a productive team environment.
Your Responsibilities- Assume primary responsibility for client engagements, including planning, staffing, timing, and technical issues.
- Conduct thorough engagement reviews and oversee completion of engagements.
- Supervise and mentor staff and senior accountants, guiding and educating them in technical areas and identifying professional development opportunities.
- Complete annual performance evaluations for assigned staff and manage employee performance conversations.
- Assist Principals and Partners with identifying, meeting with, and pursuing new clients.
- Find opportunities to turn acquired technical knowledge into high-value-added opportunities for Firm clients.
- Promote the Firm's image by participating on conference panels, contributing to Firm publications, attending recruiting events, and conducting in-house and client trainings.
- Develop, strengthen, and grow client relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and a service-oriented approach.
- Enhance skills in the industries the Firm focuses on by seeking out and completing training courses.
- Increase office profitability by managing time and staff and senior accountants efficiently, contributing ideas, and adding value.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, preferably with an advanced degree.
- 5-8 years of experience in public accounting and/or a balance of education and work experience.
- CPA license required.
- Experience with Affordable Housing, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Opportunity Zones, and other relevant areas is helpful but not mandatory.
