Electronics Maintenance Specialist

Role Overview: Electronics Maintenance Specialists play a crucial role within the communications support team, ensuring seamless communication capabilities.
Key Responsibilities: In this position, you will be accountable for the upkeep of communication devices, including switchboards, telephones, and related wiring systems for the Army National Guard.
Your duties will encompass both field and sustainment-level maintenance of stabilization and avionic flight control systems, which include:
- Maintaining, testing, and repairing communication devices
- Installing and fixing circuits and wiring
- Calibrating and aligning equipment components
- Testing and isolating defective assemblies and components
- Replacing parts, rewiring equipment, and interconnecting components on semi-automatic telephone switchboard systems
- Utilizing circuit and wiring diagrams and schematics
- Testing repaired equipment for functionality
Skills Development: Throughout your training, you will acquire valuable skills such as:
- Operating electrical and electronic testing equipment
- Repairing and replacing radar and sonar systems
- Applying electronic principles and concepts effectively
- Demonstrating a keen interest in working with electrical and electronic devices
This training will prepare you for a rewarding civilian career in engineering firms, government agencies, or with manufacturers of aircraft and military hardware.
Certification Opportunities: With your training, experience, and further study, you may qualify for the Electronics Technician Association (ETA) certification.
Compensation During Training: Instead of incurring costs to learn these skills, you will receive compensation while you train.
In the Army National Guard, you will gain these essential job skills while earning a steady income and becoming eligible for tuition assistance.
Training Program: Training for an Electronics Maintenance Specialist includes 10 weeks of Basic Training to develop foundational Soldiering skills, followed by 29 weeks of classroom instruction, which includes hands-on practice in repairing radar and sonar systems.
