Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Operations Manager to join our team at Steel Dynamics. This is a critical role that requires a strong technical background and excellent leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a Safe Work Environment: Develop and implement strategies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all electrical personnel.
  • Lead Electrical Maintenance: Oversee and direct all electrical maintenance activities, including planning, coordination, and execution.
  • Develop Technician Skills: Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of electrical technicians.
  • Manage Spare Parts and Maintenance: Ensure that all electrical equipment and systems are properly maintained and that spare parts are adequately stocked.
  • Coordinate Electrical Activities: Plan and coordinate electrical activities during down days and outages to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
  • Oversee Electrical Shift Operations: Supervise and direct the day-to-day activities of electrical shift and day-turn technicians.
  • Assist with Troubleshooting and Repair: Provide technical support and assistance to electrical personnel in troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and systems.
  • Optimize Control Systems: Plan and oversee the optimization of drive control systems, PLC control systems, and other closed-loop industrial control systems.
  • Identify and Implement Improvements: Identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes or upgrades to increase productivity and reliability.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or extensive electrical maintenance experience.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to work effectively with production, maintenance, and contractor personnel.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience directing contractors and technical personnel, preferably in a medium-voltage and distribution environment.
