Job Overview
Position Summary:
Southern States Cooperative is seeking a skilled Agricultural Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and applying custom agronomy products to customers' fields. You will also perform routine maintenance and repair work to ensure equipment is in good operating condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare custom applications of dry fertilizer, crop protectants, and other treatment products according to customer work orders.
- Operate bulk spreading vehicles to apply products to customers' fields, ensuring complete coverage.
- Maintain communication with team members and managers to schedule efficiently and provide updates on equipment and materials.
- Drive to customer locations in a professional manner, representing the company positively.
- Participate in training and certification courses to enhance job performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in applying fertilizer and working in an agricultural environment preferred.
- Ability to operate equipment and vehicles safely and effectively.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and follow safety procedures at all times.
Work Environment:
This role primarily involves outdoor work, and may entail exposure to various hazards including moving parts, noise levels, dust, and chemicals. Extended hours may be required during different seasons.
Physical Requirements:
- Continuous physical activity including bending, driving, reaching, standing, and walking.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, and utilizing repetitive motions.
- Must have good vision and hearing abilities.
Tools & Equipment:
Agricultural Specialists will need to use a variety of equipment including safety gear, tools, vehicles, and specialized agronomic tools.
