Acuity is in search of a skilled Loss Control Representative to perform comprehensive assessments and generate detailed reports for the Commercial Underwriting division. The position requires operation within Maryland, ideally situated near Baltimore.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gather relevant data on potential clients and existing policyholders to evaluate their adherence to company underwriting criteria and industry best practices. This includes a thorough examination of operations, loss history analysis, hazard identification, and risk assessment.
- Compile objective written evaluations that benchmark accounts against similar businesses.
- Achieve productivity and timeliness objectives in line with company standards.
- Conduct routine service visits to support policyholders in enhancing their loss control measures by assisting in the establishment of effective hazard mitigation strategies. Provide recommendations for account enhancement that align with company and relevant consensus standards.
- Utilize technical resources effectively, including A.M. Best, NFPA, OSHA, and DOT.
- Engage with safety literature, publications, and directives distributed by the company.
- Facilitate safety meetings and/or training sessions at the locations of policyholders.
- Maintain relationships with agency personnel within the designated territory.
- Actively participate in professional development activities to broaden technical expertise and remain informed on industry developments.
- Be prepared to travel throughout the assigned territory and occasionally to other regions as necessary.
- Possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record to operate a corporate vehicle.
- Exhibit regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of five years in loss control within a multi-line insurance environment or ten years in a safety-related profession.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in building relationships with policyholders, prospects, agents, and company staff.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Functional proficiency with PC applications.
