Pediatric Psychosocial Support Specialist

At Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS), we are committed to providing exceptional care to our pediatric patients and their families. As a Pediatric Psychosocial Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in assessing the psychosocial and developmental needs of our patients and developing plans to facilitate therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients' psychosocial and developmental needs and develop plans for therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide psychosocial support and opportunities for continued coping mastery and normal growth and development.
  • Assist with the identification and implementation of non-pharmacological pain management techniques in the pediatric patient.
  • Provide information and support to parents/caregivers regarding developmental needs and interventions.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and develop effective working relationships with members of the healthcare team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Human Development and Family Studies, Counseling, Child Development, Therapeutic Recreation, Child Psychology, or a related field.
  • Prefer a Master's degree in Child Life, Human Development and Family Studies, Counseling, Child Development, Therapeutic Recreation, Child Psychology, or a related field.
  • Two to three years of related experience.
  • Licensure as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) within six months of hire date.
