Aquatics Department Director

Job Summary
The Director of Aquatics is responsible for overseeing all aspects of aquatics services and programming at Great Wolf Lodge. This includes operations, planning, budgeting, staffing, and payroll management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive plans to support organizational objectives, allocating resources and time effectively.
- Manage fiscal and budgetary aspects of aquatic operations, including creating and maintaining departmental budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate resort activities and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and respond to guest comments, addressing operational issues promptly.
- Conduct investigations into guest service and liability claims, as needed.
- Develop and implement schedules for waterpark operations.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate team members, including compensation changes.
- Plan and implement staff training and development programs.
- Participate in the Manager-On-Duty program and execute duties.
- Assign responsibility and authority for department operations.
- Monitor mechanical equipment and report issues to Engineering for repair.
- Represent the waterpark and safety programs on the resort Executive Committee.
- Enforce policies and procedures, maintaining a working knowledge of general and departmental safety procedures.
- Oversee Risk Management and Safety programs.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience creating and maintaining documents with Microsoft Office.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing large aquatics departments with various waterpark attractions.
- Ellis & Associates (E&A) International Lifeguard Training Program license.
- E&A Basic Leadership Training License.
- E&A Instructor License.
- Experience in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) license.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree.
- Emergency Medical Technician or other medical background.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
- Committed to comprehensive analysis, planning, and implementation of work efforts.
- Ability to project a positive public relations image to team members and guests.
- Ability to motivate diverse groups to achieve extraordinary goals and overcome challenges.
Physical Requirements
- Swim 50 yards in 4 ft. of water and retrieve a 10 lb brick from the bottom of the pool.
- Sit or stand for extended periods.
- Extended exposure to hot and humid environments.
- Climb multiple flights of stairs.
