Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty Yoga Instructor to join our team at Naropa University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Yoga I: Foundations, a 3-credit course that introduces students to the traditions of yoga.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Yoga I: Foundations course, adhering to an existing syllabus and Canvas course shell.
  • Deliver 15 hours of contact time per credit, equivalent to 3 hours per week.
  • Provide one hour of office hours per week, with additional availability for students by appointment.
  • Attend online faculty meetings as needed.
  • Obtain permission for copyrighted material usage.
  • Complete required faculty and staff trainings.
  • Maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally.
  • Grade assignments, provide feedback, and submit final grades by deadline.
  • Submit grading and attendance data into Canvas LMS.
  • Mentor students outside of class.
  • Support Core Curriculum assessment process.
Requirements
  • 5 years of yoga practice, history, and philosophy study.
  • Yoga Teacher Training equivalent to 500 hours or more.
  • Masters Degree in Yoga Studies, Religious Studies, Education, or Psychology.
  • Commitment to co-create a diverse and inclusive community.
  • Understanding of privilege and oppression dynamics.
  • Appreciation for Naropa University values.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive background in yoga study and teaching.
  • Familiarity with Yoga Studies program at Naropa University.
  • Skills in academic writing and evaluation.
Physical Requirements

Faculty members spend most of their time in classrooms or virtual meetings, with some time in offices. They may experience interruptions, distractions, heat, cold, dust, and/or dampness.
