Recreation Instructor IV

Are you passionate about fitness and wellness? Do you have a knack for leading group classes and motivating others to reach their goals? We're seeking a Recreation Instructor IV to join our team at the City of Boulder

The Recreation Instructor IV will provide support and leadership in all aspects of the Fitness program. This includes leading, instructing, and motivating participants in group fitness classes, including cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and range of motion. The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching participants through safe and effective exercise programming, providing feedback, assessing strengths and weaknesses, and creating a community of wellness.

• Teach group fitness classes to older adult participants, including Fit + Strong, Silver Sneakers BOOM, Silver Sneakers Classic, and Silver Sneakers Yoga.
• Provide a learning experience that is healthy, positive, enriching, and emphasizes safety and the joy of movement.
• Instruct and educate patrons on safe and proper movement and equipment use, providing modifications and corrections as applicable.
• Create classes where techniques are clearly communicated, demonstrated, and progress logically in interest and energy.
• Distribute information to staff and patrons, answer questions, and share in responsibility of creating a welcoming and fun environment.
• Perform related duties as required to meet the needs of the Fitness and Parks and Recreation programs, including accurate completion of all required paperwork.

• Current group fitness certification from ACE, NSCA, AFAA, ACSM, AAAI/ISMA, NEDITA, ISSA, NASM, NFPT, IFPA, or a Silver Sneakers certification.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Experience in older adult weight and fitness class instruction.

The Recreation Instructor IV will work primarily in a clean, comfortable environment, with the ability to perform a wide range of strenuous physical fitness skills. The successful candidate will be able to work under stress from demanding deadlines, public contact, and changing priorities and conditions.
