Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Water Treatment Operator Trainee to join our team. As an Operator Trainee, you will be responsible for following a defined entry-level training program in water and wastewater treatment under the supervision of experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform regular checks on the condition of the water plant at the start of each shift by reviewing logs and notes.
  • Assist or perform analysis on all stages of the water treatment process to ensure water quality meets regulatory standards.
  • Make adjustments as needed to maintain water quality, pressures, and adequate quantities of water as directed.
  • Calibrate instruments and equipment, and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses.
  • Backwash filters to ensure proper filtration and remove trapped particulates.
  • Observe and assist with performing preventive and emergency maintenance on equipment.
  • Perform various other routine duties, including building and grounds maintenance, janitorial work, and preventative maintenance.
  • Record data and activities during work shifts on log sheets, logbooks, and computers.
  • Operate heavy and light equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead hoists, and mowing equipment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Basic knowledge of principles and safety practices related to wastewater or water distribution, pumping, collection, and treatment.
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle check and obtain valid driver's license.
  • Treatment Plant Operator Trainee certification within Company and State mandated guidelines.
Working Conditions
  • Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to water, wastewater, chemicals, loud noises, toxic fumes, oils, lubricants, dust, pollen, and mechanical equipment.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, walking, sitting, and climbing required.
  • Lifting up to 55 pounds may be necessary.
  • Compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards expected.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
