At Carnegie Mellon University, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Financial Specialist to join our team. This individual will provide administrative and financial support for grant, contract, or sponsored research administration under the supervision of the Research and Financial Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research administration, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The Research Financial Specialist will be responsible for managing a sponsored award portfolio for assigned faculty, reviewing faculty accounts, and distributing monthly reports. They will also forecast faculty accounts, track cost share, and prepare reconciliation transactions. Additionally, the Specialist will work closely with Sponsored Projects Accounting (SPA) and track subaward invoicing and spending.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience in sponsored research administration or accounting. They will also have familiarity with Federal sponsors like NIH, NSF, DOE (including ARPA-E), DOD, as well as nonfederal sponsors in industry and foundations. Experience with using Power BI and Excel is also highly desirable.

We offer a competitive salary of $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a retirement savings program with a generous employer contribution.
