Position Overview

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a dedicated Clinical Trials Nursing Specialist to support the execution of clinical studies in both oncology and non-oncology fields.

This role is essential in enhancing patient outcomes and quality of life, with the aim of introducing innovative treatments into standard medical practices.

This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a different facet of nursing and patient care, featuring a structured schedule that excludes on-call duties, night shifts, weekends, and holidays, thereby promoting an excellent work-life balance within a collaborative team atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing patient records to identify potential research participants.
  • Understanding and implementing study protocols in a clinical environment.
  • Obtaining informed consent from patients.
  • Performing data entry across various platforms and resolving queries.
  • Participating in team meetings and attending tumor boards.
  • Preparing for sponsor monitoring visits.
  • Conducting patient assessments, including physical examinations, phlebotomy, and preparing samples for shipment.
  • Monitoring and educating patients throughout the study process.

The Clinical Trials Nursing Specialist will also be responsible for building strong relationships with study participants and collaborating with various departments within the Cancer Institute.

Attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping is crucial, adhering to regulations established by the Federal Code of Regulation (21CFR and 45 CFR), central IRBs, and institutional review boards.
