Swim Instructor II

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Swim Instructor II to join our team. As a Swim Instructor II, you will be responsible for teaching swim lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels, while maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.

• Instruct swimming lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels, adhering to YMCA guidelines and standards.
• Create and implement lesson plans tailored to the needs of each student, ensuring a positive and engaging learning experience.
• Provide feedback and encouragement to students, helping them to improve their swimming skills and build confidence in the water.
• Ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all participants, adhering to YMCA safety protocols and procedures.
• Monitor and manage student behavior during lessons, promoting a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a sense of community and teamwork.
• Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules, referring students and families to other relevant programs and services as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance, adhering to YMCA policies and procedures.
• Follow all YMCA policies, rules, and regulations, including emergency and safety procedures.

• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications required.
• Ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Principles of Youth Development E-Learning certification within 30 days of hire.
• Y-USA Leader Certification within 90 days of hire.
• At least 17 years of age.
• At least 6 months of experience working with students.
• Previous experience working with students, preferably in a swim instruction or coaching role.
• Strong swimming skills and knowledge of various swimming techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
• CPR and First Aid certification (ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).

• Previous experience working with students, preferably in a swim instruction or coaching role.
• Current or former competitive swimming experience.
• Adaptive swim certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
