Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Budget Planning Specialist to join our team at the U.S. Department of the Interior. As a key member of our finance and budget team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing financial management strategies to support our water management and conservation programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial management plans, goals, and objectives for the Area Office.
  • Direct and coordinate financial management activities, including budget planning, financial reporting, and cost control.
  • Present financial data and budget plans to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Advise management on financial matters, including budget planning, financial analysis, and cost management.
  • Develop and implement policies, methods, and procedures for finance, budget, and agreements.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
  • Suitability for federal employment, determined by a background investigation.
  • Submission of a resume and supporting documentation.
  • Eligibility documents for veterans consideration.
  • Meet minimum education and/or experience requirements.
  • Complete a Financial Disclosure Form.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service, with experience in analyzing and evaluating the effects of changes in program plans and funding on budget, consolidating annual and multi-year budget estimates, executing a budget using different sources and types of funding, and reviewing, approving, and modifying budget requests.

Education

This position does not allow substituting education for experience.
