Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regional Director to lead our environmental programs in the Metro South region of Massachusetts. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the community while working with a dynamic team at Mass Audubon.

Mass Audubon is the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England, founded in 1896 by two women who fought for the protection of birds. Our mission is to protect the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife, promoting biodiversity, equity, and access to nature. With over 160,000 members and supporters, we work tirelessly to preserve natural habitats, educate communities, and advocate for environmental policies.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for directing our programs, properties, and activities in the Metro South region, encompassing four wildlife sanctuaries, a museum, and an education center. Key duties include:

  • Leading a team of regional staff, developing annual workplans, and managing budgets.
  • Developing innovative strategies to expand our presence in the community, engaging new audiences, and addressing climate change impacts.
  • Serving as the principal spokesperson for Mass Audubon in the Metro South region.
  • Cultivating relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and community leaders to advance our mission.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must have:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in non-profit management, environmental education, or related fields.
  • At least eight years of experience in non-profit management, community engagement, or environmental education.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work well with diverse groups, and cultural humility.
  • Experience leading teams, managing budgets, and cultivating donor relationships.
Compensation

This position offers a competitive salary range of $103,104-$109,169 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision plans, disability insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, and flexible spending account options.
