Overview:
This role serves as a pivotal member of the Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service within the Veterans Health Administration, specifically overseeing the Orthotic & Prosthetic Clinical Service.

Position Summary:
The individual in this position will supervise the Central Fabrication Unit (CFU) located in a designated area. The Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service Line operates as a fully integrated system across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities:
The Lead Orthotist-Prosthetist will be responsible for ensuring laboratory accreditation, maintaining regulatory compliance, and executing various administrative tasks, including:
1. Developing and managing budgets.
2. Overseeing inventory and resource allocation.
3. Supervising both staff and contract personnel.
4. Planning fabrication schedules for orthotic and prosthetic devices.
5. Conducting quality assurance activities.

Qualifications:
The candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of administrative functions such as budget management, inventory oversight, and workload planning. Familiarity with national prosthetic databases and software, as well as accreditation standards for orthotic and prosthetic laboratories, is essential.

Communication:
The Lead Orthotist-Prosthetist will engage with a diverse range of professionals, including physicians and allied health personnel, to develop effective treatment plans for patients with complex medical conditions.

Patient Care:
Responsibilities include ongoing assessment and documentation to ensure optimal fit and functionality of prosthetic and orthotic devices. The Lead Orthotist-Prosthetist will also provide educational sessions to medical staff regarding advancements in orthotic and prosthetic technologies.

Compliance:
Adherence to all policies and regulations regarding human resource management, patient care, and documentation is mandatory. The incumbent will be expected to maintain professional standards and participate in continuous education and training.

Work Schedule:
This position follows a standard workweek with no telework options available.
