Oversee the strategic planning, design, and implementation of training initiatives for transmission and distribution apprentices and skilled trades personnel. Ensure compliance with the Company's apprenticeship standards while striving to meet organizational objectives for designated areas. Supervise the establishment of a centralized training facility, working closely with various departments on program development, long-term strategy, and budget management. Conduct assessments to determine individual training requirements, optimize resource allocation, and enforce relevant corporate policies and programs. Accountable for managing the departmental budget and reporting to senior management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, coordinate, and manage training programs for apprentices and skilled trades through diverse methodologies including classroom instruction, online training, and practical on-the-job experiences.
  • Evaluate, propose, and implement innovative training solutions and improvements to existing practices to enhance business performance.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across various departments to ensure training programs meet regulatory standards and align with company policies.
  • Direct the creation of training materials tailored to specific areas of responsibility, including manuals, digital training modules, and visual resources.
  • Lead team initiatives, mentor team members, and effectively communicate project goals.
  • Manage projects aimed at improving operational efficiency across different functional areas, assessing and adjusting training programs as necessary.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives using operational metrics and make adjustments to achieve performance targets.
  • Provide leadership to the functional team, oversee daily operations, and suggest improvements.
  • Engage in team performance evaluations and escalate any performance concerns for management intervention.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least ten years of experience in training, program management, or project management within the utility power delivery industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of operational practices related to utility transmission and distribution systems, particularly in dispatching and outage management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively address critical customer concerns and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Proven experience in developing training programs for electric utility operations and successfully managing projects.
  • Exceptional presentation skills for creating and delivering training sessions, with the ability to quickly learn about various training topics.
  • Familiarity with corporate policies, NESC standards, and field operational practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills to cultivate collaborative relationships within and across departments.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in training within the electric utility sector at multiple organizational levels.
  • Understanding of PacifiCorp's business operations, products, services, policies, and regulatory framework.
