We are currently seeking an Application Engineer - Adhesive and Composite to support our Advanced Materials Division. This role can be based at various locations within our operational network.

Position Responsibilities

As an Application Engineer, you will be instrumental in the qualification of adhesive and composite materials for aerospace applications. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the successful application and validation of these materials in compliance with industry standards. You will engage with major aircraft manufacturers globally, addressing key challenges in the industry and leveraging Huntsman’s innovative products and technologies.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of innovative adhesive and composite solutions in collaboration with Material and Process Engineers in the aerospace sector.
  • Working alongside cross-functional teams, including design and materials engineers, to effectively integrate adhesive bonding and composite materials into aerospace projects.
  • Securing qualifications with aerospace Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers for Huntsman’s adhesive and composite offerings, while aligning product specifications with customer requirements.
  • Identifying and recommending enhancements in adhesive and composite applications, processes, and materials to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Coordinating comprehensive analysis and testing of adhesive bonding and composite materials to ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation related to adhesive and composite qualifications, including technical reports and specifications.
  • Conducting training sessions and technical discussions on adhesive and composite qualifications to enhance the knowledge base of the team and stakeholders.
  • Staying updated on the latest advancements in aerospace adhesive bonding and composite materials through continuous education and industry engagement.
  • Providing insights on customer and market needs to the Innovation Team to ensure the development of next-generation products that exceed expectations.

Qualifications Required:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a specification-driven environment, particularly with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with customers and facilitate the integration of advanced technologies.
  • Preferred experience in aerospace materials and processes, specifically in adhesives and composites.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as Boeing, Airbus, ASTM, AMS, IATF, or MIL-STD.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and the capacity to analyze complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of best practices and regulations pertaining to adhesive bonding and composite materials in aerospace applications.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for business engagements.
