The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Organ Transplant Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our transplant program, you will play a critical role in coordinating the care of patients undergoing kidney transplantation.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the evaluation and listing of potential transplant candidates, ensuring compliance with OPTN/UNOS regulations and policies.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for transplant patients, addressing their unique needs and goals.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including transplant surgeons, nephrologists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families throughout the transplant process, addressing their psychosocial and economic needs.
- Coordinate the procurement and allocation of organs, ensuring timely and efficient transplant procedures.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient care, including medical records and transplant-related data.
- Stay up-to-date with current professional literature and research in the field of transplantation, applying this knowledge to improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in nursing or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of acute clinical experience, preferably in nephrology or transplant nursing.
- Current active multistate RN license in good standing; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required.
