Job Summary

As a Senior Practice Assistant in the Endoscopy Department at Brigham & Women's Hospital, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our endoscopy services. This position requires a high level of proficiency in administrative duties, as well as strong organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Perform administrative duties with minimal supervision, including scheduling, registration, and billing.
Act as a lead, assigning and prioritizing workflow, troubleshooting issues, and providing backup support to the Supervisor.
Provide guidance and assistance to others to resolve complex issues and problems.
Assist with annual competency assessments and provide feedback to the Supervisor.
Assist with interviewing for new staff and provide cross-coverage as needed.
Act as a super user for scheduling, registration, and billing systems, providing training and assistance to others.
Perform more complex or specialized functions, such as surgical scheduling, at a high level of competency.
Follow HIPAA guidelines for the management of patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
Minimum three years medical office or administrative support experience required.
Some additional training in office systems or other post-high school education preferred.
Associate's degree or higher level of education preferred, but not required.

Skills and Abilities

Highly proficient in all communication skills (phone, verbal, and written).
Ability to handle sensitive information and situations with poise and professionalism.
Strong organizational, coordination, and judgment skills.
Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks.
Advanced computer skills and ability to use all applicable applications at a high level of competency.
Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot, and analyze situations to determine the best course of action.
Knowledgeable and compliant with all hospital, state, and federal requirements, including policy and procedures with The Joint Commission and HIPAA.
